Well, the schedule for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has already been revealed and now the announcement of the start date of IPL 2025 has created excitement among the fans. A report by ESPNCricinfo has revealed that IPL 2025 is set to start on March 21 and the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host both the opener and the final of the tournament on May 25, 2025.

Additionally, the report revealed that the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025) will be held from February 7 to March 2. Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction in November, the BCCI has shared the tournament windows for the next three seasons (2025-2027) with the franchises.

And according to the time frame of the tournament, the planned window for the IPL 2025 season was from March 15 to May 25. However, with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final scheduled for March 9, the BCCI and the IPL have decided to postpone the start of the upcoming season. in two weeks to give the international stars a break between the two competitions.

Meanwhile, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, which is the home ground of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will also host Qualifier 2. The first two playoff matches of the upcoming IPL 2025—Qualifier 1 and Eliminator—will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi in Hyderabad. International Stadium.

There is no increase in the number of games for this season

Namely, the home field of the defending champions will host both the opening and the finals of the IPL. But Eden Gardens got a golden opportunity to host three playoff games in the upcoming season. The complete schedule for IPL 2025 is likely to be announced later this month.

Well, the upcoming IPL season will feature 74 matches, just like the previous three seasons. That is 10 games short of the 84 games originally proposed for 2025 in the IPL’s 2023-27 media rights tender.

The Indian Premier League is said to be planning to increase the number of matches in 2026 and 2027, with up to 94 matches in the final year of the media rights cycle.

Mumbai, Bengaluru, Baroda and Lucknow will host WPL 2025 matches.

On the other hand, BCCI has expanded the list of venues for the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025). Along with Mumbai and Bengaluru, Baroda and Lucknow will also host WPL matches this season.

However, it is unclear how many matches any venue would get, as BCCI is yet to announce the schedule for the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025).
