BCCI reveals four host cities and Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 start date.
In a landmark move to promote women’s cricket across the country, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the 2025 season Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be held at four locations. Speaking at a press conference after the special general meeting in Mumbai, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the cities and the start date of the much-anticipated season.
Four venues to host WPL 2025 matches
This decision marks a major milestone in the evolution of women’s cricket in India. With the WPL gaining momentum since its inception, BCCI’s commitment to expanding its reach is evident in the multi-venue approach for the upcoming season. After the successful editions in Mumbai (2023) and Delhi-Bengaluru (2024), WPL 2025 will take the action to Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Vadodara, ensuring that fans in different regions can witness the excitement firsthand.
The summit meeting will take place at the Kotambi Stadium
The WPL 2025 Grand Final will be held at the newly constructed Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Located just 20 kilometers from the city centre, the stadium recently made its international debut during the India Women’s ODI series against West Indies. Known for its state-of-the-art facilities, Kotambi Stadium currently hosts the knockout stage Vijay Hazare Trophyfurther proving its ability to host high profile matches.
BCCI’s decision to include Vadodara as a key venue reflects the region’s growing support for cricket and its potential to become a hub for women’s sports.
