Senate GOP is launching a fast-track confirmation hearing in an effort to meet Trump’s ambitious goals
Republicans will hold confirmation hearings this week for more than a dozen prominent candidates for President-elect Trump’s next term, including those for Pete Hegseth, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.and Governor Kristi Noem, RS.D.
Hegseth, Trump’s defense secretary, will have one of his first hearings on Tuesday, when he appears before the Senate Armed Services Committee at 9:30 a.m. and faces questions from both Democrats and Republicans.
Trump picked Rubio and Noem to be his Secretaries of State and Homeland Security. Noem will appear before a Senate committee Homeland security and Government Affairs at 9 a.m. Wednesday, while Rubio is scheduled to face the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at 10 a.m.

Other hearings Tuesday include Doug Collins to be North Dakota’s secretary of veterans and veterans affairs Governor Doug Burgum for the Secretary of the Interior.
Trump also picked Pam Bondi to be Attorney General, John Ratcliffe to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Russell Vought to lead the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Sean Duffy to be Secretary of Transportation, and Chris Wright to be Secretary of Energy. Hearings for each of them will be held on Wednesday.
Eric Turner, Trump’s pick to be his next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Scott Bessent, who the president-elect announced as his pick to lead the Treasury Department, have hearings scheduled for Thursday.
The flash hearings come as Republicans prepare to confirm as many of Trump’s nominees as quickly as possible.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., explained his hope to quickly confirm his picks on “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on Friday, saying, “In the past, the minority party has not obstructed at least a few high-ranking Cabinet members will be approved in the first week, so I hope the Secretary of State, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, will be approved on the day of the inauguration, the day after or that week, as well as several others — the Department of Defense.”

“So I hope we get to that quickly and don’t screw it up. And I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that it happens. As for the two that I’m in charge of, I haven’t seen any resistance on the Republican side and some indication that we would could also get the support of the Democrats,” he added.

Republicans are particularly motivated to confirm Trump’s national security team, especially after the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana, that killed 14 and injured 35 people.
