“I don’t expect there to be any problem signing a player like Kolo Muani, because the money keeps coming in,” said the expert John Wenham to Tottenham News after the New York Jets announced that they will play an NFL game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this year.
“Kolo Muani is someone I wanted when we were first linked with him. I think he would be an outstanding signing for us. He is good enough that people will quickly realize he could be a starter for us in a variety of roles.
“It will be difficult to get him, especially with clubs like Juventus interested. However, we have shown recently that we can beat the big clubs to a signature, now we have the financial strength to do so.”
There are also reports that Tottenham are targeting a new midfielder this monthand it is believed they could explore bringing Real Betis star Johnny Cardos to the club months earlier than anticipated.
Tottenham want to sign Johnny Cardos in January
According to GiveMeSport and reporter Dean Jones, Tottenham are extremely interested in signing Cardoso in January while Postecoglou’s side look to bolster the engine room with fresh quality.
The American international has impressed for Betis so far this season and Spurs can use the first option clause to sign him for around £21m as part of the deal that saw Giovani Lo Celso leave for La Liga.
However, that option is not active until the summer and will only be available to them for about two weeks (The Telegraph). The Cardos contract includes a Release clause of £67 millionand while they’re unlikely to pay anywhere near that amount just to bring him in early, interest in a mid-season deal is reportedly very much alive.
There is also a “high chance” the 23-year-old will leave Betis before February 3 according to Jones, so this transfer could be one to watch.
