Liverpool have struck gold on a “superstar” worth more than Kvaratskhelia

Football is a funny business. Liverpool entered the January transfer window chanting the usual mantra: Arne Slott‘with that he is talented, deep and capable, FSG it would only work if that perfect market opportunity presented itself.

Well, there is. Although the club’s most pressing transfer concerns are spread across the backline, Liverpool are ready to pounce and sign one of Europe’s most talented left-backs, for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia may be on the move this month.

The £68m-rated Kvaratskhelia would be a credit to Liverpool’s front line, perhaps even a necessary signing if one of Nunez or Chiesa is sold this year, but Gakpo is thriving at the moment and his quality is too great to be relegated to a minor role.

Actually, according to the CIES Football ObservatoryDutch national team player – who has Carl Anka from The Athletic tagged as “superstar” – is currently valued at £91m, a higher estimate than the club’s current target of some £23m.

The slot hit the jackpot with this one. New attacking reinforcements would be fantastic for Liverpool’s push towards success this season, but if FSG fail, they’re in good hands with Gakpo in the mix – and they’re thriving.
