Mohammed Shami selection confirmed, fate of Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy revealed

The Indian national cricket team squad for the three-match ODI series against the England national cricket team will no doubt show which side India will field in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The three matches will also allow the hosts to set their combination for the tournament.

The Indian squad for the England ODI will also see the return of Mohammed Shami. According to reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that he will make a comeback ahead of the ICC Champions 2025. However, his participation in the T20I series is uncertain as of now.

Mohammed Shami gets clearance from Sports Science Department of BCCI Center of Excellence

It is learned that Mohammed Shami has either received or is expected to receive permission from the sports science department of the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. He has featured regularly in domestic cricket and recently played in Vijay Hazare’s domestic one-day competition for Bengal.

The addition of Mohammed Shami will be a big boost for the Indian team, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He last played an ODI during the ICC World Cup 2023, where he was the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets to his name in 7 games.

Mohammed Shami ran heavy yards in the NCA to recover from an ankle injury and when that was over he suffered swelling in his knee, ruling him out of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But with him, now getting a clear head, the team management would like him to play as many games as possible.

Mohammed Shami will be partnered by Arshdeep Singh in England ODIs

Mohammed Shami is all set to partner Arshdeep Singh in England ODIs. The left-arm pacer, who will lead the bowling attack in the T20Is, is said to also play 50-over games and is vying for selection for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Recently, several reports claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been India’s hero in Tests down under, might be rushed into ODIs to play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, Cricbuzz has confirmed that he is unlikely to be part of the ODI- and, although he will play a T20I against England.

Washington Sundar and Yashasvi Jaiswal are fit for the ODI series against England

Reports add that Washington Sundar is all set to take part in the ODI series against the English cricket team. The all-rounder is now expected to be a regular in all formats. He was also part of the ODI squad, which played three ODIs in Sri Lanka in August last year.

It was also reported that Yashasvi Jaiswal might also be picked for the ODI squad. He will serve as a backup player to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The England series begins on January 22, and after five T20Is, the ODIs will be played on February 6, 9 and 12.
