After the Test series win against India at home, Pat Cummins described Australia’s remarkable victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as “unreal” as he expressed pride in the team’s performance and their ability to deliver under pressure.
The Australian captain also pointed out that for many players this was the first experience of winning a prestigious trophy in the team, and this BGT series justified all expectations. Cummins credited Australia’s clear plans and proactive approach for their series win over Team India, saying he felt truly privileged to be part of such a special and talented group of players.
Speaking at the post-match presentation at the SCG, Pat Cummins said: “Unreal. Few of us did not have this trophy. Lived up to all the hype. Just be clear with our plans. We tried to be proactive; in the end, it worked. Extremely proud. We weren’t at our best in Perth. We had a lot of fun playing alongside each other. I love playing with these guys. Such a special group. Feel privileged to be part of such a team. We are really proud of what we have achieved.”

The three Australians made their debuts and integrated seamlessly into the squad, and the star said they all contributed at key moments. Cummins also acknowledged the critical moments when the senior players stepped up, which were crucial in overcoming a strong Indian side.
Cummins added: “I’m pretty happy with how I played. I refreshed myself in this series. These are the big series you are preparing for. Some sharp moments when our supports really stood up. You have to do that to beat a side like India. Ours raised their hands. It would be one of my favorite test series. Thanks to Rohit and Jasprit.”
The Australian captain also praised the incredible fan support at every ground during the five-match Test series against Australia, particularly the electrifying atmosphere during the matches at the MCG and SCG, which hosted the Boxing Day Test and New Year’s Test.

The Australian pacer further added, “The fans made the series. Every place was amazing. The MCG was going crazy. Three sales in three days here in Sydney. This shows why Test cricket is so special and why we love playing it so much.”
The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) was transformed into a sea of pink for the annual Pink Test, which is held in honor of Jane McGrath, the late wife of Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath. This special day was started by the McGrath Foundation, which works to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
And Cummins said it was a great way to start 2025. The Australian skipper signed off by saying: “Seeing everyone come out in pink and celebrate an amazing goal is a great way to get the year off to a flying start.”
