Omar Marmoush: Man City agrees in principle with the striker while Eintracht Frankfurt waits for an offer | Football news
Omar Marmoush has agreed in principle to move to Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt, pending an agreement between the clubs.
The German club are demanding around £67 million (80 million euros) for the 25-year-old Egyptian international, with negotiations set to begin this week.
The opening offer could arrive as early as this weekend. Marmoush wants the move because he knows he is currently City boss Pep Guardiola’s first target.
There is no release clause for the striker and the Bundesliga club, who are third in the German top flight, are expected to reject offers well below the aforementioned figure.
City and Marmoush’s camp believe that a transfer price of 42 to 50 million pounds (50 to 60 million euros) is more realistic.
Marmoush, who can operate anywhere in the front three, has scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, with only Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane scoring more.
He has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season and is second only to his international team-mate, the Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah for goals in the top five European leagues this season.
City are closing in on Palmeiras over a deal for Vitor Reis
Meanwhile, Manchester City they approached Palmeiras about a deal for Vitor Reis.
Talks are at an early stage but City are keen to sign the talented 18-year-old centre-back.
Palmeiras are understood to be hoping for a fee of between £33.5m and £40m.
The defender made 22 appearances last season for Palmeiras, scoring two goals.
He also captained the Brazilian U17 team at the 2023 U17 World Cup.
Reis is ‘not ready for the Premier League yet’
South American football expert Tim Vickery speaking to Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk about Vitor Reis:
“Palmeiras are in the Club World Cup and they are very keen to keep this centre-back, who turns 19 next week.
“I don’t think he’s even close to being ready for the Premier League at the moment. He’s classy, but he needs to fill up physically.
“Palmeiras have produced a lot of good players recently – mostly strikers.
“If you put him in the Premier League at this point, he would be really bullied. So maybe it’s in everyone’s best interest that he stays in Brazilian football a little longer.
“But Palmeiras are reluctant to sell before the Club World Cup.”
