President Donald Trump started his address before the joint session of the Congress on Tuesday night.
“My fellow citizens, America returns,” Trump said after thanking the members of the congress and the first lady Melania Trump.
“Six weeks ago, I stood under the dome of this capitol and declared the dawn of the golden age of America,” he said. “From that moment, it was nothing but a quick and relentless action to launch in the largest and successful era in our country’s history. We have done more in 43 days than most administrations have been carried out in four or eight years. And we just start.”
The audience heard him sing “Now, now, now” in the midst of the president’s introductory words.
Trump arrived on the podium on Tuesday just after 21:15 Eastern standard time, where he was greeted by fans of conservative legislators, while Democrats were mostly sitting.
