The British-Israeli hostage that Hamas published after 15 months in captivity said that the scars represented “freedom, hope and strength” while undergoing a series of operations for its injuries.
Emily Damari, 28, was shot in her hand as they dragged her out of her house in southern Israel during Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023, which is why she lost two fingers.
She said that a year and a half surgery left her in “intense pain” and that the scar from a “open, purulent wound” had not healed for months because of the conditions in which it was held.
On the eve of her treatment, Ms. Damari said she “fully accepted” pain and injury because of what symbolized her.
Mrs. Damari Hamas held in Gaza 471 days before the release. She was One of the first hostages that was released As part of the fire interruption agreement, reached between the Palestinian armed group and Israel after 15 months of fighting.
She was from a house to Kibbutz Kfar Aza, near the border with Gaza, in the morning, Hamas’s unprecedented attack.
Mrs. Damari was also shot in her leg and earlier she said she had just received an outdated iodine bottle to treat wounds while in captivity.
The 28-year-old said that the complex operations on her arm and the leg at the Israeli Medical Center Sheb were much better than expected.
She said the scar on her hand “looked better” and that the pain, caused by “nerves that were merged” in Gaza, left.
Now, with the help of physiotherapy, it was hoped to improve the use of the hand.
But Mrs. Damari noticed that her recovery would take time, and the hand “will never fully recover”.
She said the conditions in which hostages were held are “unimaginable.”

“Hamas created hell on earth,” she said, adding that there were others whose mental and physical health “in much worse form” from hers. She invited the edition of all the remaining hostages without delay.
Mrs. Damarija’s mother, who grew up in Beckenham in southeast London, added that her daughter in Gaza was “pointed like a pillow”.
“It’s no wonder she hasn’t infected life -threatening infection,” Mandy Damari said.
Mrs. Damari said she was “so excited” to visit the UK with her mother after being healed and that the remaining hostages were released.
“I have so many people that I personally want to thank me for helping me back my life.”
The couple invited British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to Downing Street, who had previously talked to Mrs. Damari over the phone.
During this conversation, she said that during his captivity she was held in the United Nations facilities. The UN Gazi agency called for an independent investigation into the allegations.
A total of Hamas took 251 hostages when he attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, and another 1,200 people were killed.
The attack was launched by a war that ravaged Gaza. The Israeli military offensive killed at least 48,365 people, according to the Hamas Territorial Ministry.
The first phase of the tribute came into force on January 19, which enabled the release of 33 Israeli and five Thailand in exchange for about 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
