The claims of Liverpool fans against UEFA over Paris 2022 Final Champions League can be heard in the English court, rules of judges | Football news

Legal claims of more than 800 Liverpool fans against UEFA European football due to chaos of the Champions League Champions League 2022 can be heard in England, the High Court judge ruled.
Serious problems with the congestion outside the stage of de France have seen thousands of Liverpool fans written against the perimeteric fences and stuck in the highway under the match against Real Madrid.
These same supporters, who were already on the target of local young people trying to steal tickets, then suppressed the police and sprayed the peppers.
At a hearing last July, UEFA claimed that English courts had no jurisdiction to resolve claim.
The Liverpool Court heard that he was relied on the principle that English courts would not question the legality of the work of a foreign government.
However, in a 38 -page judgment on Friday, Mr. Justice Turner said that the case could be heard in England, adding: “I have already concluded that, in accordance with the English law, it is controversial that the combination of the limit of the application of doctrines is in the amount of which these are listed and further listed and further limits the applications.”
He added that fans say that contractual claims submitted by those who received the maps from Liverpool FC “include the imposition of English contractual duties to take a reasonable skill and care that will be considered in relation to French laws and security and security regulations as applicable to the stadium.”
In March last year, UEFA said that he had achieved a “complete and final settlement” with supporters representing two other law firm, who filed for personal injuries, before their requests arrived at court.
Permanent claims relate to a group of hundreds of fans, represented by the law firm Leigh Day.
In 2023, an independent report found that UEFA was a “primary responsibility” for failures that almost led to the biggest occasion of the European Club in Paris in May 2022, becoming a “disaster of mass fatality”.
Jill Paterson, one of the lawyers for personal injuries to Leigh Day who represents the fans, said: “This is a significant legal decision for Liverpool fans in their fight for justice against UEFA.
“Uefa will now have to respond to the English courts.
“All football fans should be able to attend matches for sure.”
Uefa statement
“Uefa today received a senior court on a preliminary challenge a request that filed against him with supporters of the Liverpool Football Club in relation to the Champions League final 2022 in Paris.
“Uefa has applied for a claim that she will be rejected on the basis of what requires the English court to consider the French police procedures and other French authorities in a way that is not allowed by English law. This application was considered at a two -day hearing in Liverpool in July 2024.
“Today’s verdict says that in the proceedings it is too early to know whether the position of UEFA is correct or not. The verdict says that UEFA arguments will be revised more information once again.
“This is the only remaining claim that Liverpool fans have filed in relation to the Champions League finals in 2022. The other two claims were resolved after the discussions described by legal representatives of both sets of fans as” constructive “.
“Uefa will not give any further comment at this stage.”
