Super League: Leigh Adrian Lam Ready for the ‘Massive’ Top of the Conflict table against Hull Kr | Rugby league news

Leigh Leopard’s head coach Adrian Lam says that the conflict with the Hull Kingston Rovers table is “massive” when they meet this weekend.

League League leaders Kr and runner -up Leigh are the only two undefeated sides so far this season, but that record is likely to disappear after Sunday’s game, live on Sky Sports+ from 15:00.

After the extraordinary victory of the Golden Point over the Wigan Warriors in the opening of the season, Leigh beat Huddersfield Giants, Katalone Dragons and Drew with Hull FC last time.

Their impressive race surprised many, but Leigh now faces their most difficult challenge, when they travel to Hull Kr, a side they didn’t win from the Challenge Cup 2023 finals.

“It’s a huge game for the club and me as a coach,” Lam said Sky Sports News. “There are good times here in Leigh. It’s been a long time since we were near the top of the table after four rounds.

“With the way this season has been going on, they are undefeated and whether we get a win or not getting there, there will be a lot to learn from.

“This will be a challenge for us. They are a similar path as if we were going back to the Super League. Going out there and playing is good that we can look for.”

Lam acknowledges nerves at the beginning of the season

LAM joined Leigh on the eve of 2022, monitoring the club’s return to the Super League before led to their first major trophy at 52 years when he won the 2023 Challenge Cup.

They finished fifth in the last two seasons of the league phase and reached the semifinals of the playoffs last year, but few expected them to fight at the top of the table, even in this early stage.

“The city is buzzing here, the stadium is full, the team wins most weeks. It is probably a golden age for the club in the Super League Times. With that, we are expecting to win and we are working fine right now,” Lam said.

“I was a little nervous at the beginning of the season because you have so many new faces and you don’t know what to expect.

“The victory against Wigan in the first round was quite impressive and we got a lot of confidence in that and trust from the players we entered.

“They settled really well. We still have a lot of work to do, we are only young as a group on this trip.”

In less positive news for Leigh, Lam confirmed that the wing player Darnell McIntosh was left without action by the end of April after injuring the injury in their throwing Batley Buldoga.

“He had an incredible out of season. He injured himself in our summer camp, so it was his first game, and I was pleased. He scored his attempt, but he expressed his AC compound, so he would be outside one or two months,” he said.

“We still have a few more players, but those who enhanced did a great job.”
