Chinese so-called “deep moment” is likely to be good news in the global race for the development of artificial intelligence models that can perform more complex tasks, according to Jean-Pascal Tricoire, the chairman of the French energy manufacturer-Oprem Schneider electric.
“I actually think it is good news. We need AI at all levels,” Tricoire told CNBC Steve Sedgwick Converge live in Singapore on Wednesday.
“We need ai to optimize your entire business at all levels, so you can buy better, better consume, better decide, better source. To do it all, we need models to work on a smaller scope,” he added.
Tricoire said that the appearance of the Chinese AI app Deepseek showed that AI models could achieve the same results as some of its more established American rivals, but with a much smaller model.
This will “actually spread AI at all levels of architecture much faster,” Tricoire said. He added that the Deepseek Model Blockbuster R1 would be “fantastic” to improve safety and reliability when arranging AI to dangerous equipment.
“The expansion of the AI model at all levels of what we need is really very good news,” Tricoire said.
His comments come shortly after Schneider Electric reported Record sales and profit at 2024.
