Rodrigo Duterte, a Filipin former president, was arrested at an ICC order
Rodrigo Duterte, former President of the Philippines, was arrested on Tuesday in Manila after issuing an International Court of Criminal Court accusing him of crimes against humanity in the war against drugs, which are said to be tens of thousands of Philippines.
He was taken into custody at the Manila Airport after returning from a trip to Hong Kong, according to the Philippine Government.
Mr. Duterte, 79, who left his duty in 2022, is a populist fiery brand that remains one of the most influential politicians of the Philippines and enjoyed relative immunity despite several charges against him. Only a few people are convicted of killings.
