‘Rare’ tropical cyclone Alfred barrel down on the eastern coast of Australia | Weather News

Millions of people on the east coast of Australia are preparing for their first tropical cyclone in more than five decades, because authorities invite residents in areas prone to floods to evacuate their homes.
Storm warnings influenced millions of people on Wednesday along more than 500 KM (311 miles) coast in Queensland and New South Wales States in the midst of a warning that a tropical cyclone Alfred could bring winds up to 155 km/h (96mph).
Alfred is expected to land as a category 2 storm 2 on Friday morning near Brisbane, the third largest city of Australia, home 2.5 million people and the capital of Queensland.

Authorities warned that heavy rain could result in a flood of dangerous floods.

Minns said that the authorities are particularly concerned about the communities along the stream and the rivers that are expected to flood in the northern new southern Wales.
