Pulev to defend the controversial WBA title against Wardley

WBA ordered his regular champion in the heavyweight category Kubrat Pulev (32-3, 14 ko) to defend himself from #1 ranked Fabi Wardley (18-0-1, 17 ko). Pulev, 43, holds a secondary belt with the world boxing association, while Oleksandr USYk is the main champion and one with a more prestigious belt. Below Wardley, he bent to this level to fight for a secondary belt.

WBA had to abolish his “regular” belt long ago because it confuses the fans and does nothing for anyone who holds the title. Pulev won his ‘regular’ WBA belt last December, winning Mahmoud Charr unanimous decision in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a bad look that WBA still has its ‘regular’ title.

Factor of age

Although the Pulev 6’4 ″ looked good for someone of his age against a smaller fighter, he is still not near the level he had been challenging years ago, followed by IBF, IBO and WBO in heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko for his three belts on November 15, 2014.

Pulevina’s last solid win against a good heavyweight B category was in 2016, when he dominated Derek Chisora, defeating him by a decision on a split in 12 rounds. All Pulev beat up since then marginal fighters with little ability, and he is nowhere near the top of the tree in the division.

It is unclear why Wardley’s promoter bothers him to fight Puleva for a belt that has no real meaning. Fabio, 30, should fight the best opposition, not challenging for secondary belts.

Wardley is an eight -year -old professional who does not possess a talent that would allow him to win none of the high -level weights. He misses the spark he needs to shoot in defeating anyone well.

Wardley is more like a difficult category at a British level, but received a high rank based on his victories over other fighters from his country. Trouble Fabio had with 38-year-old passenger Eric Molina 2021 showed where he was in talents. You could say that you were watching Wardley’s appearance against Molina that the wheels would shut down if they had inserted him better than that.

Wardley comes out of the first round of knockout over a 271 -pound Clarke phrase Clarke on October 12 in Riyadh. Clarke is not a world -level fighter and it’s not a big deal that Warley threw him out.

Who should Wardley fight

Instead of Wardley’s promoters aiming for the triketta titles, they should focus on the match of hi against these heavy weights to try to develop it in a meaningful way:

– Filip Hrgovic
– Bakhodir Jalalov
– Martin Bakola
– Richard Torrez Jr.
– Effered ajagba
– Frank Sanchez
– Andy Ruiz

I doubt Wardley could beat any of these fighters, but at least he would fight quality guys who would attract the attention of fans. The fight for secondary titles against the 43-year-old Puleva is stupid. I don’t respect that move. It just makes the fans watch Wardley as if it lacks confidence that they are dealing with good fighters in the division, but since he looked against Molina, they can understand it.
