“I didn’t perform…”: Litton Das ponders being dropped from Bangladesh’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced the national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025who will be the co-host Pakistan and United Arab Emirates. The team has attracted considerable attention, with one notable exception: the goaltending striker Litton Das.
Despite his outstanding performance in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)where he scored a brilliant century against Rajshahi Durbar in the 18th match, Das was not selected for the prestigious tournament.
Litton Das admits the reason for his exclusion
Speaking candidly about his exclusion from the national team, Das said the decision to select him for the Champions Trophy was beyond his control, as it was taken by the selectors. He admitted that it was his job to work, and he couldn’t do it. Although he feels a little upset about the situation, he maintained the same attitude before and after the game, stressing that the past is behind him.
“The selection of the Champions Trophy was not under my control. The selectors answered the call. They decide who to play with. My job is to work. I couldn’t do it. I think I was a little upset about it. Today I have the same mindset before and after the game. The day has already passed,Litton was quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
He also admits that the exclusion from the team was due to a lack of performance, stating that he has nothing to hide and that this is a normal, simple reason. “Maybe not from the coach, but it’s easy to find out why I didn’t make the team. I was rejected for not performing. There is nothing to hide there. Basic, normal,“, he added.
Das promises to improve and stay focused
The shot-putting goalkeeper acknowledged his recent poor form and expressed his commitment to upping his game. He emphasized that progress will take time and that his focus is on personal development, not on proving himself to others. Despite not playing well in recent months, he aims to become more consistent, especially after his recent innings against Durbar Rajshahi.
“I didn’t play well, so I have to improve my game. I’m not going to change overnight, so I have to work hard. People will love it when I score runs. I’m not there to prove anything to anyone. I’m just looking for improvement. I don’t think I’ve played well the last few months. I will try to become more consistent from this point, especially after this innings,“, concluded Das.

Das’s ODI is struggling
Das’s dismissal is particularly noteworthy given his previous success in limited-overs cricket. However, his recent struggles in the ODI format have raised concerns. Since his memorable century against Afghanistan In 2022, he failed to reach a half-century in the last 13 ODI matches as the top batsman.
