‘Octoma’ Sumay Suleman has a ‘very strict’ rules for his Octaples

Suleman found fame in 2009 – and earned the nickname “Octoca” – after giving birth to the first survivor of the Octupta in the world.
While raising six children born before Octaples and juggling with a regular college schedule, Suleman faced back reactions because he was “this unemployed social welfare recipient”, which she said People magazine “It wasn’t the case at all.”
Although she thinks that she “failed” her older children “allowed”, Suleman implemented strict rules in her home to ensure that Octuplets were raised for success.

“Personally, I believe that I failed to carry out all the knowledge I gained in college as a parent,” she said about her six older children. “I raised them only allowed, which is not right. You should not do it. You should implement a consistent structure, discipline and consequences, plus love, unconditional love and acceptance. I only managed the latter.
“I didn’t need to spoil them. I learned a difficult way. But I still raised them to be kind and humble.”
For the OctapletsSuleman instilled in boundaries and “was able to carry out a combination of unconditional love, positive respect and structured disciplinary consequences.”

For example, “they are not allowed to go out until it is 18,” Suleman said.
“She’s very strict and we are much educated,” Nariyah said, 16 ,. “We have no phones. We have one phone to communicate.”

In addition, Suleman said that there was no “social media” in her household.
“It’s toxic. I don’t even like to continue,” she said. “I just do it to share and scare myself. It’s like I can’t imagine children today. It’s so unhealthy. I don’t believe anyone should go on social networks or be allowed until it is at least 18.”

He wants to teach his children not to “fix” themselves.
“I don’t believe anyone should go to social media or be allowed until he’s 18 years old.”
“It’s very different today,” she said. “I am a little more old school in raising my children to focus on others, I try to appreciate serving, because then the by -product of that inner joy and happiness is not that there are no insults for other people and other children these days, but they are prone to a little more, say only to alleviate and self -evaluate. I advise my children.

Suleman and 11 her children live in a three -bedroom apartment in South California. “Let’s save money because we don’t buy animal products,” Suleman said.

“And these are the most expensive. And that’s the healthiest. But we are ethical vegans, so we do it primarily for animals and minimize the damage done on our planet.”
The family plays games at home and enjoys movie nights, but a few teenagers are looking forward to a great turning point.

“Driving,” her son Jeremiah said.
Nariyah’s daughter, on the other hand, can’t wait to work.
“I’m excited to make money so we can obviously help my mom,” she said.

Makai, the youngest Octulet, said to his mother, “In the future, when we have our own money, then we could get gifts, real gifts for you.”
Suleman replied, “I don’t really want the right gifts. I don’t like materialism. I love the letters you write.”
