Langston Sykes, a Mixed martial arts fighter, She was shot and killed in Florida late on Tuesday night after allegedly participating in an invasion of the house, police said in a statement.
Lake City police received a 911 call just after 11pm with respect to an individual who was shot after a reported chasm at a residence in Lake City, about 45 miles north of Gainesville.

Once at the scene, officials considered the 31-year-old Sykes “inadequate”.

“The police managed the first help until EMS arrived, but the individual succumbed to his injuries,” the statement said.
According to the implementation of the law, Sykes allegedly “tried to break into the home and was successful”. There were several children and adults at the time. Police said that when Sykes “rushed” toward individuals in the house, one of the adults “fired multiple shots” on him, he was fatally injured.
Police later identified Sykes, adding that one of the adults in the house had an active ban against him. They noted that an early investigation seems to indicate a case of “self -defense”.
“Investigation findings suggest that the case can qualify under the Florida stands your terrestrial law, “ Police said, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are affected by everyone,” police chief Gerald Butler said in a statement. “Based on the investigation, this seems to be the case of a resident that acts in self -defense during an invasion of the house. Our detectives are diligently working to collect all the facts to ensure a thorough and complete investigation. We encourage anyone who has information to report.”

A mixed martial arts school based in Florida, to which Sykes belonged, announced a statement after the news of his death.
“Langston was not just a fierce competitor and a dedicated teammate, but also a great father, a loyal friend and a man who brought the light into any room he entered. His kindness, laughter and his unwavering support to those he loved will never be forgotten,” Read the statement.

Sykes had a 1-4-0 record. He last competed in the promotion of Iceland Fights in August, where who won who.
