Marco Rubio Defends Arrest, Deportation of Activist Mahmoud Khalil

State Secretary Marco Rubio Conflict with host CBS Margaret Brennan due to the order of a state department to recall the green map of former student activist University of Columbia, Mahmoud Khalil.

Khalil, Palestinian brought up in Syria and a permanent American resident, was arrested and detained by immigration officers earlier this month because of the leading activities “aligned with Hamas, a certain terrorist organization”, according to the Ministry of Homeland Security.

“That’s simple,” he said.

“If you told us you would do it, we would never give you a visa. You’re here now. Now you do it. You’ve lied to us. You’ve come out. That’s easy. It’s easy,” he added.

“But are there any evidence of a relationship with terrorism?” Brennan pressed. “Or is it just his position?”

Rubio asked the anchor of the news if she was aware of the Pro-Hamas camp that took over the college campuses after the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7th on Israel.

“Yes, they take over – you should watch the news,” Rubio replied. “These guys take over the whole buildings.”

“We covered him intensely,” Brennan said as the two talked about each other. She explained that she was speaking especially for evidence in Khalil’s case.

Rubio said that Khalil was a “negotiator” for student protesters who took over the collection of Columbia University and destroyed buildings.

“It’s a crime in itself,” he told Brennan. “We don’t want it. We don’t need these people in our country. We should never allow them, primarily.”

Rubio reiterated that those who entered the ground for visas with the intention of disrupting the campsite activities, vandalizing buildings and promoting terrorist organizations should not be released and deported.

He also called the “hypocrisy” of those who defend these protesters’ The right to freedom of speech.

“It is ironic to me that there are many of these people who defended the first amendment, allegedly the right to free speech of these sympathizers of Hamas – they had no problem, okay, pressing the social media to censorship American political speech. So, I think it is ironic and hypocritical,” he added.

Brennan continued to press Rubio if “only the past people” invited their visas or people with “other views”.

“We don’t want terrorists in America. I don’t know how difficult it is to understand,” Brennan said.

“We do not want people in our country to start crimes and undermine our national security or public security. That’s so simple,” he continued. “Especially the people who are here as guests. It’s a visa. I don’t know where we got it in my head that a visa is a kind of birth. That’s not. It’s a visitor in our country. And if you break the terms of your visit, you will leave.”
