Man City captain reveals a reaction to the release of Gareth Taylor
Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood admits that she was shocked by the club’s decision to separate with former Chief Coach Gareth Taylor.
Taylor was released by his duties on Tuesday night After the club stated: “Unfortunately, the results of this season have not reached this high standard so far.”
The Starry Defender said Sky Sports If she had been shocked to hear the news of Taylor’s release: “I swallowed it in the last 24 hours, things moved quite quickly. Of course, for my personal gets of the news it was a bit shock at the time. Of course we have to digest it now and look at the bigger picture.
“I think everyone will process this information very different. Some need time, some go very quickly. Ultimately it’s football, and now we’re going forward.”
Manchester City is currently taking fourth place in Women’s ladder Super League (WSL), One point with Arsenal in the Champions League qualifiers. The turbulent pattern has recently seen Cityzens points at West Ham, Arsenal and Manchester United 2025.
“It’s a job based on the results. Of course you never want to see anyone losing their jobs, people are human beings at the end of the day. But, decisions were made and that was a decision. The bigger picture and a short -term picture is what we are ahead,” Greenwood explained.
The club chose former manager of Nick Cushing as a temporary main coach for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign. The 40-year-old led Cityzens to WSL, League Cup and Fa cup Silver accessories during his previous term at the club, before joining MLS Side New York City FC.
“He is extremely aware of the club, part of the city group, he has already been here and knows what it takes to win,” Greenwood about Cushing said. “He made this message very loud and clear from the very beginning, which gave everyone a little excitement. He has a history history and really positive at this football club, so I think she was a very appropriate decision to bring him in.”
