Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari driver ‘itching to go’ to the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourneu | F1 news

Lewis Hamilton said “itching to go” in front of his debut Ferrari on Grand Prix this weekend
The accumulation over the new winter season to F1 was mostly about Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, with great excitement because of the seven -year world champion, who joined the most famous sports team.
Hamilton was not in the fight with the title since the controversial season 2021 after three mixed season in Mercedes, although in 2024 he won two races in Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps.
The preseason testing in Bahrein suggested that Ferrari were behind the Tempo McLaren, but the action this weekend at the Albert Park will reveal true commands on the field.
“It was hard to know who he was. Looks really close between all of us,” Hamilton said.
“But for me I’m just itching.
Hamilton is the most successful F1 driver with 105 wins and 104 half positions since he made his debut in 2007.
The 40-year-old said he spent four days a week at Ferrari factory in Maranell and remained in his world.
“I don’t really read the news and go for a long time without social media, so they don’t bombard me with social media,” he said.
“I live there in my little bubble. I returned to the type of square. I gave absolutely everything for training, pushing my mind and body further than I had before, trying to see if I could stand out and only get more juice out of this.
“I have no assumption that it will be easy. It’s not. But I don’t feel pressure. External pressure for me does not exist. The pressure is inside, which I want to achieve.
“I am not here to prove anything to anyone. I never feel I have to do anything. I have been here for a long time and I did it again.
“I know what is needed to do work and this is what I want to give myself, my family, for this team that I really believe I deserve success.”
Hamilton: The goal is to win
Ferrari have not won the driver championship since Kimi Raikkonen in 2007, because Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel failed to become world champions.
The last title of Scuderia was the Constructor Championship in 2008, the same year Hamilton won his first title.
Hamilton has an “open mind” that comes to Melbourne, and the Ferrari trail has historically been strong.
“Joining the new team, as soon as you can get a high level and achievement performance, it’s better,” he added.
“The transitional period is inevitable and there is a foundation that needs to be built. We have done this in the last few months, and the first half of the season is really such a foundation, the construction of these relationships, the confidence you build with absolutely every person in the team you will work.
“It’s not something you just get into the door. Trust and respect; while respect is given, trust is something that is being built over time.
“Of course, the goal is to beat. The goal is to take the team forward. I had some not so spectacular years and I will try to see if I can have a better year than the last three and there will be a lot of factors that connect with that.”
Hamilton explains Ferrari’s difference
Hamilton will drive without a Mercedes engine for the first time in his F1 career, which is a significant change due to technological differences.
He tested the Ferrari 2023 and 2024 cars in January and February, but spent only one and a half in the 2025 machine. During the preseason testing, where he was the second fastest.
“That’s something completely new. [The engine has a] Different vibrations, a different feeling, “Hamilton said.
“The whole team works completely differently. I just sat looking at the trace of the race from last year and this is upside down compared to the previous one. I look at it and I didn’t understand it at all!
“Looking at things from a different perspective makes him exciting and challenging, this is the most exciting period of my life, and so I really enjoy it and I’m so excited to get into the car tomorrow [Friday]. “
