Levi Williams: Jockey appears in court charged with murder after a fight outside the Newmarket Pub | Racing news

Jockey cried as he appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner who died 10 days after the fight outside the pub in New March.

Levi Williams, 25, is said to have hit 71-year-old Richard Wingrove on March 8th during an incident involved four people outside Waggon and Horses.

Mr. Wingrove died at Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge on March 18th.

Williams, from Holland Park, Newmarket, Suffolk, stared straight at most of the hearing and later cried as he listened to the proceedings from a safe dock in Cambridge Crown.

Judge, Mark Bishop, rejected a report for bail and Williams’ partner, Lillie May, paid at the Public Gallery.

Mrs. May, Cathy May and Williams’ mother, Hayley Williams, also sat in a public gallery.

Mrs. Williams said her son’s dream was to be a jockey “since he was a high colon.”

She said he left the home when he was 16 to attend the British racetrack in New Market.

The defendant, who had short, brown hair and wore long sleeves, gray tip and light blue jeans, did not ask that he declared himself a charge of murder during a hearing on Thursday.

The judge kept him in custody until he was hearing on the confession of the guilt in the same court on May 9, with a temporary date of trial of September 15.

Suffolka police said police officers were invited to reports on quarrels, which included four people on March 8 at 3:40 pm on Newmarket High Street.

Mr. Wingrove was transported to a hospital in critical condition and died on March 18th.

The second man, 45 years old, was transported to the hospital and was released later in the evening of March 8, the power said.

Williams was previously arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm regarding the incident and saving it.

He was accepted on Tuesday and was later charged with murder, police said.

The 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm, and a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Afray, and both called the police.
