Johnny Hallyday car lost on poker game is sold on auction
A classic car owned by the late French rock star Johnny Hallyday before he lost it in Poker for 132,000 euros (€ 143,000; £ 110,000) on auction.
In 1975, Panther de Ville gave him his then wife, colleague singer Sylvie Vartan. Its custom connections include MINK seats, a golden disk on top of a grille and Hubcaps that carry its initials.
The French auction house Osenat told the BBC that the vehicle was bought by a Frenchman for “a particular project, which he would discuss soon”, and the buyer had to pay an additional premium of the buyer of 26 400 euros.
Hallyday lost his car while in 1977 he played poker with a friend.
Osetat said the BBC that Hallyday allegedly tried to buy the vehicle from the owner, but distract him from the fact that his manager who cited limited finances did so.
Panther de Ville was a neoclassical luxury car with 1930s style design. It was produced in Britain from 1974 to 1985 and had a V12 Jaguar engine.
The 1975 Hallydad yellow-black color model was one of the 69 classic cars that Osena sold at Fontainebleau, near Paris, on Monday. Auktionari expected the vehicle to receive between 55,000 and 80,000 euros.
The golden disk is enrolled with Hallyday’s name. Vartan put him on top of the grid to celebrate the best -selling records he published in 1975.
Hallyday was a famous car fan. But within two years he was forced to part with the vehicle after losing Poker in his friend’s house, said Osenat’s Stéphane Pavot on France Info.
However, the happy winner preferred sports models and later exchanged it for Ferrari, owned by a real fan of Hallyday’s, he added.
Vartan and Hallyday divorced in 1980.
Hallyday has sold more than 110 million records and starred in numerous films during his career, which lasted 57 years. He continued the tour until the death of lung cancer in 2017, at the age of 74.
