Indian Premier League 2025: Prohibition of saliva reporting a cricket ball erected for the upcoming tournament | Current news
The ban on the use of saliva to the cricket ball will be abolished at the 2025 Indian Premier League tournament.
The decision comes after most captains of the franchise invited to change the meeting on the Crown Control Committee at the India headquarters on Thursday.
The temporary ban was introduced in May 2020. During the Pandemia Coidd-19, and in September 2022.
Players traditionally used saliva and sweat to polish one side of the ball, while the opposite was left to get worse through the natural wear to swing in the air.
The move aimed to support protocols of hygiene, at the same time ensuring the safety of the players in the post-paramount era.
During the ICC Champions trophy, the Indian bowler Tempo -a Mohammed Shami urged the ban to abolish, stating that he would make the reversed swing to the game more fun, with Tim Southeee agreeing with new Zealand.
