Heavenly sports’ Kris Boyd believes that Barry Ferguson is the perfect ‘leader’ for Rangers after a 3-2 victory against the Celtics in the old company.
The Rangers looked at the Celtic Park swallowed their lead with two goals until Hamza Igamane climbed from the bench and scored his effort into the upper right corner to secure all three points for his side.
The epic victory, in which fans returned to the knot for the first time since 2021, arrived three days after Ferguson led his team next to Fenerbahce on penalties to advance to the Europa League quarterfinals.
Former Gers captain was appointed successor Philippe Clement by the end of the season in February, while the club spent a “football review” before appointing a permanent manager, but Boyd believes that Ferguson is the perfect profile for a permanently taking role.
“Rangers need a leader and someone to protect the players and he did it,” Boyd said Sky Sports. “He is ready to invite them if necessary.
“I was at the training center on Friday, and since I was the last time there, he is completely different. Everyone has enjoyed it when it was a collapse and dark before.
“In this country we always look at foreign coaches and we think they are much better than what we have in this country.
“Renjers need a leader and he did it as a player and now as a manager. You can already see a change.
“We quickly kicked coaches out of this country. For me, when Rangers and Celtic have British coaches, they seem to act.”
In the situation, Ferguson inherited from Clement, Boyd continued: “The difficult situation of Barry came in. The season was over and it was all about Europe. It did not harm. Arriving at the Celtic Park, and that was calm, but that was because of the Rangers.
“He went to Fenerbahce and surpassed [Jose] Mourinho and did exactly the same [vs Celtic]. It was an aggressive team that asked questions about Celts.
