The White House rejected the concern US International Development Agency (USAID) instructs employees to destroy classified documents due to the effort of Trump administration to close the agency.

“The federal law is clear: the preservation of government records is crucial for the transparency, responsibility and integrity of the legal process,” the US Association for Foreign Service said.

“The Federal Law on the 1950s records and its implementing regulations determine the strict requirements for the retention of official records, especially those who may be relevant to legal procedure,” the statement said. “Furthermore, the illegal destruction of federal records could have serious legal consequences for all who are directed to act in violating the law.”
