Governor Blue State Sounds Alarm on Trump’s Tariff Plans

Trump confirmed on Thursday that his proposed 25% tariff plan would take effect next week, as “the drug is still entering our country from Mexico and Canada.” He said the tariffs would start on March 4. “Until they stop or are seriously limited.”

Whitmer said on Wednesday that she was grateful that the president had made a starting break at 25% of tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

“As I said before, I don’t oppose the tariffs directly. But they are a dull tool when the economy of Michigan is on the turn,” Whitmer added. “25% of tariffs would slow down the construction, closed small businesses, led to release in Auto -industry and cost the Michigan family an additional $ 1200 a year in the store and pump, as companies would transfer their higher costs to the consumer. Trump vowed Save auto industry During his inaugural address, by building a key promise of a campaign given during his rally in Michigan last year.

“With mine today, we will finish the Green New Deal and revoke the mandate of an electric vehicle, sparing our auto industry and keeping our holy commitment to our large American automatic house,” Trump said during his inaugural address.

In October 2024, Trump set up his vision of American car production at the Economic Club in Detroit.

He was criticized by politicians in Michigan for calling a “development” area during this speech.

“When foreign leaders and executive directors invite me to complain about our tariffs, my answer will be very simple: construction in America, you have no tariffs. Build it right here in Detroit, you don’t have a tariff. Build it in Dearborn or Lansing or Grand Rapids or Flint, you don’t have taxes.

Trump also committed to guide “Michigan Miracle” and “Re -Birth of Detroit.

“By the end of my term, the whole world will talk about Michigan’s miracle and the amazing re -birth of Detroit that will happen,” Trump said.
