Florida is a ‘draft’ for school safety after the shooting in the park: the father of the victim
Orlando, Fla. – From PUCKING IN PARKLAND High SchoolThe chosen leaders in Florida have committed themselves to implementing proactive measures, making the state a “draft” to prevent mass shootings.
Their advocacy and legislative work were exposed to the inaugural national Safety Safety Summit at the school, where with one goal they merged to implement the law and school officers from 20 different countries – to share the best practices in school safety.
Fox News Digital spoke with Ryan Petty, who lost his 14-year-old daughter Alain in 2018 at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Petty shared that Florida prevents mass shooting and what other countries can learn.
“We had safety accounts at school every year from Parkland’s tragedy,” he said. “So, we do a lot of things right here in Florida and we wanted to share this draft with the rest of the country. So we invited states from the whole nation to come, and we all learn from each other. And we hope that, as a group, we help each other solve this problem.”

Alaina Petty was one of 17 people killed on February 14, 2018. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The scorer, Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old former student at school, opened fire to students and staff, killing 17 people and injuring 17 others. The victims included 14 students and three staff members.
“They say that time heals all wounds, but for seven years, and it’s still the first thing I’m thinking about in the morning when I wake up, which is often the last thing I think about before I go to sleep,” he said.
“This is why this mission is so important. I know that my daughter Alain would be proud of me for advocating other students to be protected from danger that I did not understand that it was possible,” he said.

Florida Education Commissioner Manny Díaz Jr. He pointed out that the shooting in Parkland turned attention to the research of the US Secret Service (USSS) about “missing” or warning signs, which preceded the mass shooting.
“The tragedy of Parkland is an example where everything went wrong and where there were multiple defects in advance,” Fox News Digital told Fox News. “It was missed several times that this could be stopped in the front. So it was a complete failure over the entire panel, which allowed us to learn from that incident.
“And we were able to establish not only these preventive measures with threat assessment, but we evolved ourselves in the management of threats, where when a student we take into that procedure, we follow that student to ensure that they get services to avoid the crisis,” he said.

Shared that Florida officials “solidified” their schools creating individual entry points, updating technology and police or additional guards who were trained prevent shooting in the campus.

Díaz said that there was always a crisis in all the past mass shootings over the US.
“In all these shootings, we know that there has been a leak, but there is also the ability, if you have things to prevent it, even after everything else has failed,” he said.

Utah took notes on how Florida resurrected from the tragedy of Parkland. Matt Pennington, head of state security in Utah with the Public Security Department, said they were “parallel” by Florida’s legislation.
Pennington told Fox News Digital that the legislative body of Utah is taking proactive steps to prevent the tragedy before it happens.

“Several parents in Parkland came to our legislative session and discussed the legislators about their experience, their influence and how it affected them in their lives,” he said. “And it really just took home when you have people who come victims and their children lost their lives because of to school violence.
“It is really important that we make it progress in Utah and hope we have no attack.”
