Explained BCCI -O’s Demerit Points system for IPL 2025
The Crown control Committee in India (BCCI) recently presented the Demerit Point System for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This was introduced to focus on the threat of a suspension, not the suspension itself, according to a report in Cricbuzz.
BCCI designed this approach by bringing a change in players, officials and others. The new system is taken from the International Caucasian Council (ICC), but the Indian body will use it with minor changes, especially within the time frame.
BCCI will use the Demerit Points system in IPL for a three -year -old cycle
While ICC calculates Demerit points for five years, BCCI will use it in IPL for three years. After the accumulation of points, the players will be awarded a suspension. There will also be different panels for suspension.
For example, if a player bag of four to seven demertites, then one will face a one-match suspension, 8-11 points will lead to a two-match suspension, 12-15 points will have a suspension with three games, and 16 or more points will result in a five-game suspension. This belongs to Article 7 of the Law.
IPL believes that the threat of suspension is the strongest distraction from changing behavior – bcci
BCCI stated: “IPL believes that the threat of suspension is the strongest distraction from changing behavior, hence the system of accumulated demers -involved in the behavior code.”
“The position from Demerit received by a player or team official according to the regulations remain in their record in the period of thirty -six (36) months. After the accumulation of Demerit points, the player or official of the team is awarded the suspension (I). The details of the same are listed in Article 7.6.
BCCI also explained that Demerit points would be imposed. A player who commits a misdemeanor according to the behavior code will be a point. In simple words, breaking levels will determine the number of demente points.
According to the rules, a fine of 25% of the match fee bears one Demerita point. Level 2 offense attracts 3-4 Demerit points, the offense of Level 3 results in 5-6 demertite points, and the level of level 4 leads to 7-8 demertite.
Demerit points will be imposed on a player or team official for which they have been found to have committed the offense – BCCI
The Crown control Committee in India said: “Demerit points will be imposed on a player or team official for which they have been found to have committed a criminal offense in accordance with the behavior code. The number imposed points will be calculated by calling for a sanction imposed on certain works.”
The referee of the match or Ombudsman will determine the penalty that will be imposed for a particular period or a certain number of matches. Cleaning this point, BCCI stated:
“If the referee or Ombudsman match imposes a period of suspension to any player or team officer, then, unless such a period is a period of time (for example, one year), then at any such suspension period they refer to the points of the suspension.
“Each match in the league has a weight of one (1) point of suspension. To clarify, the sanction of one (1) point of the suspension resulted in the suspension of one (1) match.”
