Oscar Piastra claimed that the first Grand Prix Polo of his Formula One career was kicked out by George Russel in China.
Piastra, which was previously previously at the top of the Sprint qualifying sessions, came out on top in challenging windy conditions in the international circle in Shanghai to make two pillars of two for McLaren for the start of the season.
The ruling construction champions seemed ready to ensure a front row lock while the Pole candidates fought to improve themselves in their other rides in Q3, but Russell surprised the surprise that Lando Norris had pushed to third place.
Max Verstappen was fourth for Red Bull, while Lewis Hamilton could only manage the fifth – a place in front of his teammate Ferrari Charles Leclerca – after the maiden Ferrari victory in Sprinto in Sprinta earlier on Saturday.
Isack Hadjar drove great to take the seventh for racing bulls, distorting Mercedes colleague Rookie Andre Kimi Antonelli.
Yuki Tsunoda was the ninth in the second racing bull, which further increasing the rapidly growing pressure on Liama Lawson, whose nightmare began the Red Bull career as he last qualified.
