Australian GP: Lando Norris sets pace because Oliver Bearman suffers a big collision in the first practice of Melbournea | F1 news

Lando Norris is at the top of the first training session of the Formula 1 2025 season at the Australian Grand Prix while British Novajlija Oliver Bearman suffered a large collision.
Norris played his own and McLaren’s status of pre-season favorites on Thursday, but a part of the appearance that many expect that the British will give a good opportunity to ask for their maiden F1 title.
In the final moments of the session, he set a time 1: 17.252, to finish 0.149s away from Carlos Sainz, who impressed Williams after his Ferrari shift.
Lewis Hamilton was only 12. On his first weekend for Ferrari races, ending six -tenths behind his teammate Charles Leclerca, who was third.
Oscar Piastra had four dozen of his teammate in McLaren Norris in fourth place, while Max Verstappen was slightly in fifth place for Red Bull, as he started searching for the fifth consecutive driver’s title.
George Russell finished seventh for Mercedes, but survived late intimidation as he spin after driving on the grass on his way 4 and managed to stop his car only from obstacles.
Bearman, who rides in his first full campaign after making three appearances in the race last season, caused the second of the two red flag during the session as he ran into gravel at the exit 10 of the 10.
This interruption, together with a earlier delay to allow the removal of gravel from the path on which the cars running from the line in the 6th thread meant that almost a third of the session of the long hour was lost.
