More than 100 people injured in deadly fire at a nightclub in Kocana – about 100 km east of the capital, Skopje.
At least 51 people were killed, and more than 100 injured in devastating fire at a crowded nightclub in Kocani, northern Macedonia, said Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski.
The flame broke out on Sunday at about 3am (02:00 GMT) during the concert of the DNA band when the pyrotechnics started inside the place in Kocani, located about 100 km (62 miles) east of the capital, Skopje.
Social media videos show that the building is fully preoccupied with a flame, with thick slopes of smoke that rises into a night sky.
Witnesses say that the flames broke out at once, quickly spread to the ceiling and roof before consuming the building.
The Ministry of the Interior said that the emergency room and the public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor of Kocani were at the scene.
“The number of victims and injured are still determined. All resources and capacities of the Prosecutor’s Office will be mobilized to support the Kocani lawsuit in their emergency response,” the prosecution statement said.
