Arsenal Legend explains why Mikel Merino “exactly what a rifle

Arsenal legend Ian Wright suggested that Mikel Merino is strongly suitable for the role of ‘number nine’, which he was asked to fulfill in recent weeks, even bringing attributes that Kai Havertz did not.
The rifles did not have attackers when Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were both excluded by the end of the season because of the injury, which led to Mikel Arteta asking Merin to play forward.
The Spanish internationary scored four goals as a stand-up attacker including Sunday winner against Chelsea. But Wright explained that it was more than just the goals that serve the team.
“What we saw was that he was a very intelligent player,” said a retired star while Pundit was on Premier leaguewith Live Backed Days Coverage after the game.
“When you look at him, and by then he connects the show [the ball] He comes to him – I watched him again when they played PSV – he is so composed and knows where he is passing him.
“That’s exactly what Arsenal the need to hold the ball in that [attacking] third. This is something we don’t do well because we don’t have a focal point. Kai Havertz Isn’t that a player where he connects the play how Merino can do it. Merino does this the way he can hold him, and you can go and join him. Then, suddenly, we play a little further. “
Merino himself also appeared in the show, revealing that he felt like he was well adapted to the new role asking him.
“The way is different from playing as a midfielder but not to be [natural] The attacker do not feel that pressure as if I should achieve every single game, “he commented.
“The main thing for me is to try to help the team in small details, from pressure, to positioning in the best videos for my teammates to be better, it may fall when it is necessary to calm down with possession. This is different from what I am used to, but I think I really adapt well.”
