Announced the New Zealand T20I Detachment for the Pakistani series, Mitchell Santner replaced as a captain


The New Zealand National Cricket Team has announced its exhausted T20I team for the upcoming five -game home series against Pakistan National Cricket team.

Kivia Captain Mitchell Santner will not participate in T20I matches against men in Green. Therefore, a new captain was appointed for the series.

Michael Bracewell replaces Mitchell Santner as a captain temporarily for Pakistan T20is

The Bracewell, which was one of the stars of successful ICC ICC champion Trophy 2025, was named a skipper for the Pakistan T20I series.

He had previously led a team of New Zealand in a series in Pakistan, and his upcoming stay will be the first time he will run black caps at home. Apart from BRACEWELL, six more players from ICC champion Trophy 2025 will participate in matches against Pakistan.

The main names that will miss the matches due to the Indian Premier League’s obligations (IPL) are Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravandra and Bevon Jacobs.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will get an incentive with the return of the Seifert team, Finna Allen, James Neesham, Ish Sodhi and Ben Sears. High Pacers Kyle Jamieson and William O’Rourke will continue to be part of the team, but only the first three match of the T20I series with five matches on March 16, 18 and 21 will play.

Talking about getting leadership, Michael Bracewell stated that he was quite honored and privileged. He elaborated:

“It is a great honor and a true privilege of your country’s captain. I really enjoyed leading a side to Pakistan last year and we have many players from that team involved in this series, which is beautiful.

“Mitch Santner has done a great job since he took over the white ball captain and I really will just try to upgrade to his good work and create a comfortable environment for the guys in which he will perform.”

Michael Bracewell further labeled Pakistan as a dangerous unit and expressed his excitement for playing against them in front of a home crowd.

“Pakistan is always a dangerous side of a short form with a lot of strength and tempo, and we know they will hurt them after getting out of the champion trophy,” he said.

“For guys returning from Dubai, it is obviously a level of disappointment, but also a lot of pride in the way we managed to perform and represent New Zealand. We loved all the support we received from afar and we are sure to look forward to returning home and playing in front of our fans and in front of full places.”
