Ajinkya Rahane vs Kolkat Knight Riders Kustos- KKR instructed to move all of his home matches
Former New Zealand Fast Bowling Simon Doull criticized the curator of Ton Eden Gardens for his controversial remarks during the IPL 2025. The commentator said Kolkat Knight Riders (KKR) should consider moving his home base if they are unable to get points that suit their strength in the tournament.
The Knight Riders team management remained frustrated by the terrain conditions in Eden Gardens after their defeat to Royal Challengers Bengalur (RCB) at the IPL 2025 opener. However, the inspection of the slope of SUJAN MUKHERJEE stated that the nature of the surface would remain unchanged despite Ajinkya Rahane’s request.
Knight rider from Kolkat surpassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Kolkat Knight Riders fought that in the first match of defense a total of 175 runs. Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy failed to make a significant impact. The duo managed only two Wickekes as he received 70 runs in their combined eight accessories, as RCB has comfortably persecuted the goal in 16.2 additions.
However, the RCB attack was delivered to the surface. The Pandya Left Hand Crown created a 3/29 magic, while Spinner Spinner Suyash Sayash Sharma released Andre Russell. After the defeat, Ajinkya Rahana stated that the deficiency of the turn had prevented Narine and Chakaravarthy to make influence.
Just move the franchise elsewhere – Simon Doull
Simon Doull said that the requirements of the home team should be taken into account when preparing the surface. He further added that the role of curator is not a sharing of opinion on how the game should be played.
“If he doesn’t care about what a home team wants … I mean, they pay for stadium fees, they pay what is happening in IPL, but if he still doesn’t care what your home team wants, then just move the franchise elsewhere,” he said to Cricbuzz.
“His job is not to convey an opinion on the game. That’s not what he paid,” he added.
I am extremely dissatisfied with what he said – Harsha Bhogle
During the discussion, veteran commentator Harsh Bhogle stated that home teams should have measures adapted to the forces of their bowlers. He emphasized that teams are not looking for extreme conditions for Knight Riders in Kolkat, but a balanced surface on which their bowlers can perform effectively.
“RR, if they play at home, they should get traces they think they are appropriate for their bowlers. So is KKR. I saw something that Kolkat Knight Riders said. If I am at the KKR camp, I am extremely unhappy than what he said because I am not looking for 120 surfaces,” Bhogle said.
“I just say, give me a surface where my bowlers can win in matches. Let me say,” Excuse me, we don’t prepare such players … “We don’t ask you to make 120 tons, we don’t ask you to make 240 tons. But I think the home advantage is an IPL tournament absolutely legitimate.
