Wrexham 1-1 Birmingham
Birmingham maintained their five-point lead over Wrexham in the race for League One after a 1-1 draw.
Wrexham took the lead at the Racecourse Ground on Thursday night as Oli Rathbone fired them in front early on. Birmingham got them back soon after with a goal from Lyndon Dykes.
The result means Birmingham extend their lead over second-placed Wycombe to three points, with Wrexham.
Birmingham, with 57 points, also played a game less than Wycombe (56 points) and Wrexham (52 points).
Loot shared on the racetrack
Wrexham struck for the first time after just nine minutes. Ollie Palmer dispossessed Taylor Gardner-Hickman of the ball deep in Birmingham territory and Rathbone collected it before curling a superb strike from outside the box into the bottom corner.
After 18 minutes Birmingham was level. The corner was taken deep and Dykes headed it back towards goal before beating George Dobson on the post.
Wrexham have been powerful at home this season and showed that strength as they pushed for a second half winner.
Birmingham have goalkeeper Ryan Allsopp to thank for the point, especially a good save in the 64th minute to keep out James McClean’s header from a corner at the near post.

Chris Davies from Birmingham:
“Mixed emotions. I thought we were very good in the first half despite conceding a goal and we responded to that.
“We were very calm, took control of the game again and scored a good goal from a set piece. I liked the way we looked in that half. I thought we threatened a lot and we gave them very little.
“In the second half, we had a few moments, but we didn’t have the same control that I would have liked us to have. And in the end, we ground it and fought hard to get a point, and we’ll accept that.”
