A huge blow! Cooper Connolly replace the injured Australian star for CT 2025 Knockouts
Australia has invited Spin-Bowling Allrounder Cooper Connolly to her Champions 2025 trophy for knockout matches. Connolly replaces Matthew Shorta, who is excluded from the tournament after being injured in the last game.
Cooper Connolly will give a team worth a spin of left hand, which can be vital in the upcoming semifinals against India in Dubai. However, Australia will miss the quality opening in the absence of Matthew Short.

Cooper Connolly replaces Matthew Short
Cooper Connolly was in passenger reserves with the Australian team for this tournament. Its supplement was approved by the Technical Committee of the Tournament. As he was among the passenger reserves, he had already joined the team for the semifinals.
The 21-year-old Connolly is inexperienced at this level, because he has played only three go with a modest return so far. The left back has scored 10 runs in three games and has yet to be picked up so far with a WICKET with an economic rate of 7.75.
Interestingly, Cooper Connolly has a limited list of experience with only 9 games so far. He scored 117 runs on average 16.71 and picked up only 3 Wickekets on average 56.66.
He is a regular part of the BBL, which is represented by Perth Scorchers and will have to use this experience if he gets a game in the upcoming champions trophy knockouts. Apart from this, Cooper Connolly also made his debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year, but he barely got the opportunity to make an influence with a stick or a ball.
Connolly can play a key role if he gets a chance to play in the semifinals against India in Dubai. The kits in Dubai were low and slow from the late provision of aid for Spin bowlers. He can provide some vital to his team because it is expected that the terrain will turn away.
Why was Matthew Short off?
Matthew Short picked up a four -time injury as he went during the last group match of Australia against Afghanistan. Although he returned Bat, he did not seem to play long inserts and instead emphasized to achieve fast races to make a greater impact in limited time.
Short scored a quickfire 20 off 15 balls, which included 3 four and 1 six. He expanded a 44 ride partnership with Travis Head in just 4.3 additions to start Australia starting at the top.
Australia went nicely in the 109-1 game in 12.5 adding in search of a goal of 274 rides in Lahore. However, the rain stopped playing, and the match washed over the rain. As a result, Australia provided its qualification for the semifinals.
They also have the ability to include Jake Fraser-McGurk on top, however, which will reduce their bowling capabilities. Fraser-McGurk will provide the team with an aggressive option at the top.
When will India and Australia face?
Australia will face India in the first semi -finals of the 2025 champion trophy. The match will be played on March 4 in Dubai. This is a long -awaited competition between the two best go teams in the last decade.
Both teams reached this phase undefeated. While India won all her three group stages, Australia won 1 match of three playing. Two of their matches were washed over the rain.
