Ravicharndran Ashwin made a surprising exit from the International Cricket during the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024-25 against Australia. Ravicharndran Ashwin has invited the time to his celebrated international career during the Brisbane test against Australia in December last year.

Ashwin revealed that he was originally planning to withdraw after his 100th. He even invited the former Indian and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni to be part of the occasion and handed him a commemorative memento. However, Dhoni could not attend Ashwin’s special match.

But the former Indian off-pinner sees the return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the upcoming IPL 2025 as an even more gift of Mrs. Dhoni and thanked the five-time captain who won the IPL for the same during the event of launching a book on Sunday (March 16).
Ashwin called Mrs. Dhoni on his 100. Test but couldn’t make
Ravichardran Ashwin quoted Hindustan Times: “I called MS Dhoni for my 100th. Test at Dharamshali to hand over memento. I wanted to make my last test. But he couldn’t succeed. However, I didn’t think he would give me a gift to bring me back to CSK. That is much better. So thank you, MS, for what you did here.”
Significantly, the former Indian versatile player played his 100th. Test match against England in Dharamsala, where he performed an star performance, claiming that he was nine winches in the fifth and last test in March 2024. BCCI also organized a special ceremony to celebrate Ashwin’s Milestone and honored contributions to Indian cryrkets.
Ashwin targets a fresh start with CSK in IPL
Off-Spinner also gave an emotional speech at the ceremony. In the meantime, Ashwin also insisted that he return to CSK as a veteran with acknowledgments, but as someone eager to accept the game once again, just as he did in the early days. Significantly, the chennai franchise was signed by an experienced Spinner for INR 9.75 crore on a mega auction.
Ashwin signed himself, saying, “What is most important, I returned to CSK not as someone who achieved so much, but as someone who went through a full circle and wants to return here and enjoy it as before. It’s a wonderful place.”
International Career Ravicharndran Ashwin in numbers
Ashwin ended his international career as an Indian second highest training carrier in all formats. He played 106 tests, 116 Zada 65 t20i, taking a total of 765 shots at the International Arena. In tests, he claimed that 537 hickekets, including 37 draws with five winches. He was also part of the Indian winning teams in the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 champion trophy.
The off-pinner will be seen in action on March 23, when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take over the Mumbaj Indians (Mi) at his IPL 2025 opener at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
