Although the reduction of the costs implemented by US President Donald Trump may be popular with many Americans, economists differ in assessing the potential outcomes of these measures.

The Peterson Institute of International Economics, senior colleague Joseph Gagnon tells host Steve Clemons that Trump’s idea that tariffs on imported goods can be replaced by tax unreal.

The United States Government is inflated and needs modernization, Gagnon claims. But although measures involving the release of thousands of federal employees and the swallowing of USAIDs can save billions, what kind of impact could they have on the national economy and on trillion dollars in debt?
