US investigators are trying to determine that actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classic pianist Betsy Arakawa, died after the discovery of their bodies at their home in the US state of New Mexico.

How were the deaths revealed?
Police bodies and one of their dogs found the police on Wednesday at their home in Santa Feu, New Mexico, after calling an emergency worker.

Hackman, 95, was discovered in the side room near the kitchen, while Arakawa, 65, was found in the bathroom, on the property on the Old Sunset track in Hyde Park.

Arakawa’s body showed signs of “decay” and “mummification” in the hands and feet, said Sheriff’s detective.

A German Shepherd dog owned by a married couple was found dead in a bathroom closet near Arakawa.
How could they die?
Police statements are not given the reason immediately after the announcement of death.
Authorities reported on signs of injuries, but death considered “suspicious” enough that they could explore and did not exclude a false game.
Near Akkawa’s head was a portable heater, which Detective found that it could have been demolished in case it suddenly fell to the ground.
Carbon monoxide and toxicological tests have been requested for both hackman and Arakawa.
The local utility company did not find gas leakage signs in the area, and the fire brigade did not reveal indications of carbon monoxide or poisoning leaks, according to the search order.

Why is death considered suspicious?
The circumstances of their death were considered “suspicious enough in nature to demand a thorough search and investigation,” the search order said, because the worker who called emergency services found the open door of the property.
However, the detective did not notice a sign of forced entry into the home. Nothing appeared in place.
“There was no indication of the fight,” Sheriff Mendoza said. “There was no indication of anything that was missing from home or disturbed, it would be an indication that a crime had happened.”

All we know is that two maintenance workers, one of whom called emergencies, say they last had contact with a few weeks earlier.
Two workers said they sometimes did routine work on the property, but rarely ever saw Hackman and Arakawa.
They communicated with them by phone and text, primarily from Arakawa.
