The English T20 World Cup beat the skipper after the failure of his team in the last three ICC tournaments.
Jos Buttler announced his decision to deviate as a captain in England, after the catastrophic trophy campaign campaign ended with the fact that they failed to reach the semifinals.
“I’ll stop as a captain of England, that’s the right decision for me and a team,” the 34-year-old said at a press conference on Friday.
“It’s a real decision for a team and we hope that someone else will come in and work closely with the base [coach Brendon McCullum] that the team returns to where it should be.
“This tournament will be important for my captaincy and obviously, two defeats and outside the tournament, and a little hangover of some tournaments before, I probably probably arrived by the end of the road for me and my captain, which is a shame. I’m sad about that.”
