Turks al-Sheikh confirms the Beterbiev-Bivol trilogy if the buffalo wins in a rematch
Turkish al-Sheikh says a trilogy match will be held if Dmitry Bivol wins in his rematch with an unrivaled heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, which will be held at 13 February 22 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadhu.
Ring reports that the Turks “confirmed” that a trilogy would appear if the buffalo (23-1, 12 ko) conquered a rematch on February 22.
It’s a terrible news for WBC mandatory David Benavidezwho hopes to fight the Beterbiev-Bivol 2 fight winner. The fans will be difficult to accept the third match between the two, because many are already tired of seeing them fighting. The buffalo is not exciting to look at because it uses the shot style-just a few selected fans enjoy this approach.
Beterbie’s task
We already know that the buffalo will try to fight his way to winning the decision because he has no strength and rarely tries to achieve knockouts. Given the complaints of Dmitry’s match promoter, Eddie Hearn and Pro-Bivol, Beterbiev may need to do something extraordinary to win a decision on February 2nd. We’ve seen things like that before.
When a fighter wins an unpopular decision, the rematch often sees the former loser a controversial victory. As such, it will not be a shock if the buffalo wins a rematch by a decision, no matter how the fight is played. We hope this is not the case, but things look like they are moving in that direction. If you are Beterbiev, you have to think, “I need a knockout.”
The only positive for the ‘Mexican monster’ Benavidez is that Beterbiev (21-0, 20 ko) is likely to win a removal with a buffalo. Their previous struggle last October showed that the buffalo could not endure his power and was forced to run and keep the last seven rounds in a 12 -round defeat. Beterbiev entered into a fight with a recent knee surgery, but still dominated.
Benavidez (30-0, 24 ko) may need a temporary fight to keep it busy if there is a match of the Beterbiev-Bivol trilogy. Benavidez should give David Morrell Rhevan if this is the case because he is the best opponent with which he can fight to create interest in his challenge for the title in 175.
The fight of Benavidez-Morrell on February 1st created a great interest of fans and brought reputable PPV numbers. Benavidez won a unanimous decision in 12 rounds, but he was running out in the fight, and his face looked like he had lost the fight. Morrell was mostly unmarked in the end, showing that the weaker bumps of Benavidez did nothing to him.
