Trump says the car tariffs that come around on April 2nd.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he was planning to impose tariffs on imported cars around April 2.
Trump gave a remark at an oval office when journalists asked them about his comments by Auto Tariff earlier in the week.
“During the next – maybe, maybe around April 2,” Trump said. “I would do them on April 1, believe it or not. I’m a little superstitious. No, literally, we planned for April 1. I said,” Let’s do that on April 2. “
“Do you know how much money it costs? It costs a lot of money only that day, but we will do it on April 2,” Trump added before confirming with someone outside the camera that the date is correct.
The scope of the tariff is not clear.
Earlier this week, the president thought about 50 or 100 percent on imported cars, saying that Canada “stole” an industry from the United States and that he wanted vehicles made in Detroit.
A 25 percent stop on all Canadian exports was announced earlier this month, which lasted until early March. But Trump has since signed a command for tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum, including from Canada.
