“We can skate us to confirm that several members of our skating community unfortunately were on a ship American Airlines Flight 5342, who collided with a helicopter yesterday in the evening Washington, DC“said the organization.” These athletes, coaches and family members returned home from the National Development Camp, held in collaboration with the US Skating Championship in Wichiti, Kansas
“We are relaxed with this unspeakable tragedy and hold well the family of victims in our hearts. We will continue to monitor the situation and publish more information on how it becomes available.”

Russian sliders of Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who won the title of couples at the 1994 World Cup and competed twice at the Winter Olympics, were on the plane, said Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.
“Unfortunately, we see that this sad information is confirmed. There were other fellow citizens. Today they are from Washington. We are sorry to send condolences to families and friends who lost those fellow citizens who died in a plane crash,” he said.
The International Skating Union said she was “deeply shocked” because of the incident.
