Officers in Egypt say they discovered the resting place of King Thutmose II, marking what the government described as the first great discovery from the tomb King Tutankhamun It was found in 1922.

Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), said that about 3,500 years the tomb is one of the most significant finds in Egypt in decades.

“This is the first time that the funeral furniture that belongs to Thutmose II has been discovered, because there is no such cases in museums around the world,” he was quoted by the state informative service of Egypt.

Khaled said when archaeologists first found the entrance to the grave and his main passage almost three years ago, the team believed that he could belong to one of the husbands of the kings, given the proximity of the tomb of King Thutmose III and the tomb Queen Hatshepsut, The only woman who reigned as Pharaoh in Egypt.

Adding difficulties in determining the property of the burial was his poor condition for flood exposure, according to Mohamed Abdel Badie, head of the Egyptian team that worked on digging.

But the artifacts discovered inside the tomb, including the fragments of the Alabaster jar, the names of Thutmose II and his main wife, Queen Hatshepsut, providing final evidence of the ownership of the tomb.

Experts also found that the Queen of Hatshepsut, the king’s wife and at the same time, was monitored by the burial of Thutmose II.

Egyptian authorities have announced that artifacts have been discovered important supplements in the body of knowledge over the history and reign of Thutmose II.

The excavation, which began in 2022, was conducted in cooperation with experts from the new Kingdom Research Foundation in the UK.
