The woman dies in the Australian flood while thousands flee to home
The woman died in Australia, and thousands were forced to escape from their homes after lush rains caused floods in northern Queensland.
Authorities warn that flood waters could rise to the level of another bucket in a situation they described as dangerous and life -threatening.
More than 700 mm (26in) rain fell into parts of the northern Queensland in the last 24 hours, and there is concern that “record rains” will continue on Monday, State Prime Minister Queensland David Crisafulli said.
Meteorologists say it could be the worst floods in the region for over 60 years.
Crisafulli said the conditions, unlike everything Northern Queensland, have experienced “long”.
“It’s not just an intensity, but it’s also the longevity of it,” he told the Australian Emirate ABC.
Thousands of people living in the town of Townsville have said to leave their homes by noon on Sunday, while the authorities brought 100,000 sand bags to block flood water.
Parts of the road between Townsville -ai Cairns Tourist Center are cut off, interfering with the efforts to rescue and sand bags in the area.
