Sonia Bompastor: Chelsea’s main coach opens about private life and searching for more trophies in the first season at Stamford Bridge | Football news

Sonia Bompastor sitting in front of me is not the coach of the ice-cool you see aside, in fact, it is quite the opposite. She is chatty, warm and funny – almost two different people and this is the way she likes.
There is a football coach and then the other Bompastor, one person we knew very little about this week.
Most of the time, she was able to keep two sides in her hand, but this week in an interview in France on the eve of the publication of her new autobiography, with which the two collided.
Chelsea’s head coach admitted to a secret she kept for 13 years: she was in a relationship with her former teammate and now coaching assistant Camille Abily. They share four children together.
She felt that she had no choice but to hide and share her life, but admits that it was an amazing burden to wear.
“I grew up with a model where the couple was a man and a woman and it was too hard for me to say that I was in a couple with a woman,” he says exclusively Sky Sports.
“Well, sometimes it was difficult. It’s still difficult. When you start lying, it’s hard to tell the truth and when it’s long and the longer it is, the harder it is to say.
“I just wrote that book to give something to my kids. When you write a book, of course, you don’t want to hide anything. It’s a way to put your life in the book and talk about it and I think my family is probably what I’m most proud of.
“I like to be really calm my private life, but with this book everything goes and, yes, it’s not the best way to keep a secret. It was difficult because even today it is not comfortable to talk, and I may realize that I can also be a role model for some people.
“It’s not something I’m used to and it’s not comfortable, but if I can help people understand that we live in 2025 and every difference is important. I don’t want people to judge because they are different about sexuality, but both skin color, religion and everything.
“When you are happy, you just stick to happy. And that’s the most important thing.”
The process of opening a part of her life that is publicly examined was challenging, but the reaction was really positive. “When you realize that people take care of your happiness and that’s the most important thing,” she continued.
Maybe if the player who was going through the system, life could be different now, it certainly hopes. “I think we have made good progress in the world of football, but also in society.
“I feel more comfortable even now to express it. That was not the case 15 years ago. So now I feel people, especially in Chelsea, we feel support. I have already talked about how many variety we have on the team and I think it is really important for people to feel.”
As we talk, she gives a rare view of family life, and even jokes that four children under the age of 10 have helped in the role of a football coach. “Really busy, organized and you need to predict a lot,” she laughs. “Having your own private life and this job of high responsibility, I think I just find the right balance. And when you just get back to your normal life, it’s good to have your children because you can break up.”
The downtime is something that is the values of Bompastor. During the latest international vacation, she spent three days with friends and family in France, enjoying shopping, lunch and throwing out the latest show on the survival of ‘Koh Llant’.
Now the switch has returned to Bompastor, a manager.
This is the moment in the interview, Chelsea chief really revives. Ready, assembled focus comes back as we talk about entering the decisive few months of the season and winning the trophy – what does a good season look like for you, I ask? Without hesitation, Bompastor replies: “Winning a title. This is always the most important.”
All four competitions, I follow: “Yes, all of them,” – no break again.
“It’s always hard to win every trophy, even one trophy, it’s really hard, but when you start the season, you realize that this team was built to compete and win titles.
“So, yes, it will only be a pleasure if we win four titles. We will fight very much to make sure we are in that position. I think we have a real mentality to make sure we just approach every game in a good way that we can be successful.”
Next for Chelsea is a return to the WSL action against Brighton. The winner of the stop of Lauren James saw them coming from naked down to win Everton last time and hold their seven points at the top.
Chelsea is the only undefeated team in the league and only two points have fallen this season, drawing 1-1 in Leicester. In January, they also added two stars to their already bright collection with Keir Walsh and one of the world’s best defenders Naomi Girma, for the world record fee. Girma should be on a team to travel to Brighton.
Chelsea then faced an incredible four meeting at three separate competitions against Manchester City rivals, all in a 12 -day space. First comes the League Cup final, followed by the first game of their Champions League in the last eight, before WSL’s face for a good measure. Oh and European other leg. It is a period that defines the season.
The wished champions league is the one who has avoided Chelsea and a trophy in which the club desperately want to attract. “You can win titles here and everyone is here.
“We are really pleased to be busy. We have not won anything right now, but we are in a really good position and confident. When you wake up in the morning, you are simply so happy to come to work.
“Even if it’s hard for me to say work, because it’s a passion for us. And we can’t wait to play every game, one after the other, and be able to be successful. Chelsea was an example to everyone, but I think bringing the Champions League to England would be a great achievement. This country deserves to have a champion and I crossed for us.
“But even if Man City or Arsenal gets this title, it will be really good for the country.”
At the evidence of your first few months, it is difficult to bet on Bommpastor.
Chelsea was almost perfect, and Bompastor is a perfectionist with confidence. Expect Chelsea to raise their level to other equipment, now that it is really Questions.
