Joly says that friendship in Canada is “in our DNA” after comment on the British Prime Minister’s White House

Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said she did not believe that the relationship between Canada and the United Kingdom changed after the comments of the British Prime Minister during a visit to the White House.
At a press conference in Vancouver on Friday, Joly said “no country on Earth will be able to divide Canada and the UK”
“It is precisely in our DNA to be close to the UK,” she said, noting that he was in contact with British Foreign Minister David Lammy and national security adviser Jonathan Powell.
“At the same time, we have to work together to deal with the unpredictability coming out of the White House.”
While US President Donald Trump continues to undermine Canadian sovereignty, Canada tried to strengthen her relationship with historical allies, such as the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has repeatedly threatened the threats that Canada became “51.” And called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a “governor”.
Joly’s comments come the day after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer insisted that the United States and the United Kingdom were in a good sense.
At a press conference during Starmer’s visit to the White House on Thursday, a journalist asked Prime Minister if King Charles expressed concern about Trump’s recent statements about the annexation of Canada.
But the Prime Minister invented the question, accusing the journalist of “trying to find a division between us that does not exist.”
Starmer brought an invitation to visit Balmoral, a royal estate and a castle in Scotland.
“We are closest to the nations and today we had very good discussions. But we didn’t talk about Canada,” Starmer said, as the president interrupted him, saying, “That’s enough.”
Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said on Friday that the countries understand what the change in US leadership means for the world. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reduced 51 state threat to President Donald Trump during a joint press conference on Thursday.
Roland Paris, a former TRUDEAUAUA foreign policy advisor, called Starmer’s answer to the question of Canada’s accident.
“Mr. Starmer could have easily said something like this that Canada is a sovereign nation,” Paris said. “Instead, he just took the opportunity to say that there was no difference between his position and the position of Donald Trump.”
Starmer seemingly did not want to “ruin the mood” after what he described as a positive debate with the president, Paris said, but the result was that the British Prime Minister “threw Canada under the bus.”
“Trump has created an environment where there is so much uncertainty that countries are trying to secure their own interests,” Paris said. “They do not actually pay great attention to the interests of other countries.”
In an event with a large Committee for a Vancouver store earlier on Friday, Joly noted that she had warned her European counterparts of Trump’s potential threats and told them that Canada was “Canarina in the coal mine”.
After Trump threatened the tariffs to the European Union, Joly said she “wrote to all of them, and I said,” I told you. “
