Senator Schiff calls Trump administrator to exclude firefighters from federal hiring freezing

Sen. Adam SchiffD-Calif, urged several federal agencies to exclude the federal seasonal firefighters from the executive order of President Donald Trump, who carries out federal freezing employment.
In a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior and the Office for Management and Budget, Schiff noted that Trump’s employment freezes On January 20, he stopped the boarding of thousands of seasonal firefighters who could harm their willingness to respond to fires, as South California is still struggling with the consequences of last year’s fires.
“Memo published on January 20 says that it does not apply to public security positions, but this delay on board is directly contrary to that claim,” Schiff said in a letter of Friday. “Our voters and communities rely on the hard work and sacrifice of our more than 15,000 seasonal federal firefighters every year.”

“Seasonal firefighters are key to the public security of those living in areas prone to fires, and I am alarmed that federal firefighters are not a party in this exception,” he said. “In view of this, I ask for information from your agencies explaining why federal freezing employment has expanded to employ seasonal federal firefighters Wildland.”
South California ravaged two months last month Main fires and several smaller ones who killed almost 30 people and destroyed more than 16,000 buildings.
Some of the firefighters who are subject to Trump’s order who stopped the boarding of thousands of seasonal federal firefighters were from agencies that helped respond to fires in the Los Angeles area, according to NBC News.

The land management officer told the socket that, despite Trump’s command, excluding positions associated with “public security” from freezing employment, federal firefighters were not excluded.
“In the face of increasingly destructive fires, we cannot afford to reduce the tools at our disposal to fight these fires,” Schiff said in his letter. “The distracting of federal firefighters and stimulating the wound of others, threatens the California fire capacity and brings the community to high risk. The Californians rely on the support of federal firefighters, and I hope to preserve residents.”

The Senator also requested information on how to employ freezing is influenced by federal applicants for firefighters, the number of voluntary residues and the role of the Ministry of Efficiency of the Government under the guidance of Elon Mošus in employment, willingness or willingness of federal firefighters in the wild.
